WICW Phone Number Porting

How To Port Forward Your Telephone Number to VoIP

Porting your existing telephone number to a new VoIP service is a straightforward process, but it requires a few key steps to ensure that everything is set up correctly.

  1. Check VoIP Compatibility
Before initiating the porting process, make sure your VoIP provider supports number porting (which we do). Confirm with your new VoIP service that they can transfer your number.
  2. Gather Information
Have your current phone account information on hand. This may include:
    – Account Number
    – PIN or password (if applicable)
    – Billing address
    – Your current service provider’s name and contact details
  3. Signing Up For VoIP Service
If you haven’t already, contact us and sign up. We’ll need to set up your account before we can start the porting process.
  4. Request Number Porting
Once your VoIP account is active, request the number porting application. You can download this application through our website. Fill out all required information.
  5. Submit Required Documentation
We will need you to provide us with certain documentation to verify that your are the account holder of the phone number you’re porting. We’ll need a copy of your most recent telephone bill.
  6. Wait for Porting Confirmation
Once we receive the porting application and most recent copy of your telephone bill the porting process typically takes between 3 – 7 working business days, but can vary depending on the provider. You will receive a telephone confirmation from our office when your number is successfully transferred to schedule our installer to come and install the service.
  7. Keep Your Old Service Active
Until the porting process is complete, keep your old phone service active to avoid losing your number. DO NOT cancel your old service until the porting fully finished.
  8. Test Your New VoIP Service
After the port is complete, test your new VoIP service by making and receiving calls with your ported number. Ensure everything is working correctly.
  9. Cancel Old Service
Once you’ve confirmed that your number has been ported successfully, you can cancel your old phone service. Your VoIP provider will now be handling your calls.
